SUMMER VIRTUAL CHOIR DIRECTIONS
- PREPARATION: You should practice A LOT before you attempt to record yourself. Listen to the full recording provided on this page many times. Sing along to your assigned part. Then try to sing your part while listening to someone else's part (ooh, that gets harder).
- SPACE: When you are ready to record yourself you will need to put yourself in front of a blank wall in a well-lit room that is VERY quiet. Your video should show you from mid-torso to a little above your head. We ONLY want your voice, no other sounds. So close the windows, turn off any fans, avoid street noise like trucks and lawnmowers, and politely ask family members to go outside for a bit.
- EQUIPMENT: You will need two devices: one to play the sound source through a pair of headphones (phone will do), and another to video record yourself singing (phone is ok, but computers typically have better microphones). It is important to wear headphones while you perform so that the already recorded track doesn't get recorded again on the video you submit.
- RECORD: Make sure you are wearing your white or black choir polo. You need to record the whole thing in one try, so take as many times as you need to get it right. If you don't succeed the first time and it gets to be too much for you, do not worry. Take some deep breaths and practice some more. Perhaps step away from the project and try recording again another day.
- SUBMIT: Make sure to listen back to your whole recording! If you made a mistake, or can hear noise in the background, try recording again. When your recording is complete, upload the file to the google folder provided in the email Mrs. Bowman sent you. Email Dr. Talbot once you have uploaded the file. He will then verify that it was received and works for the project.
