Dr. Megan Ankuda is Visiting Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Music Education at the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College. She holds a PhD in music education with a minor in education policy from Indiana University, and her research is focused on analyzing elementary general music teaching contexts and access using large data sets.
Dr. Ankuda taught vocal and general music in Massachusetts and Connecticut, where she worked with multiple children’s choirs including the Peabody Early Bird Singers, Cambridge All-City Honors Choir, Yale Music in Schools Initiative choirs, and the National Children’s Chorus. She is a champion of general music pedagogies that center on developing aural skills and independent musicianship and has studied Kodály music education in Hungary and at Holy Names University, with Judit Hartyanyí as her primary conducting teacher. Dr. Ankuda teaches in the Hartt School of Music summer Kodály certificate program and has recently presented at the Indiana Music Educators Association, the National Association for Music Education Biennial Research Conference, and the Organization of American Kodály Educators National Conference. |
